14. What do British kids call their teachers?

In England, students traditionally address their teachers quite simply, but modern classrooms bring some funny surprises. Usually, children raise their hands or use the teacher’s name, like “Miss Smith”, “Mrs Jones” or “Mr. Beckham.” However, culturally in the UK, every female teacher used to be called “Miss” and every male teacher “Sir,” keeping things wonderfully straightforward—at least in theory.
