18. Day 1: Lynn’s Trip to England

For me, an airport experience is almost always exciting. It usually means someone special is arriving, and today was no exception. I went to the airport to meet my friend’s daughter, Lynn, who had travelled all the way from South Korea to spend some time with us in the UK over Christmas.

저에게 공항은 거의 항상 설레는 장소입니다. 보통 특별한 누군가가 도착한다는 뜻이기 때문이죠. 오늘도 예외는 아니었습니다. 저는 크리스마스를 함께 보내기 위해 한국에서 영국까지 먼 길을 온 친구의 딸, 린을 만나러 공항에 갔습니다.

When Lynn arrived, she was understandably nervous, tired, and excited all at the same time. After such a long journey, we welcomed her as warmly as we could before beginning the long three-and-a-half-hour drive back to Sheffield.

린은 도착했을 때 긴 여행 탓에 긴장도 하고, 피곤해 보였지만 동시에 매우 설레어 보였습니다. 우리는 최대한 따뜻하게 그녀를 맞이한 뒤, 셰필드까지 약 세 시간 반이나 되는 긴 운전을 시작했습니다.

Before long, Lynn fell asleep in the car, clearly exhausted from her travels. For now, all she wants is to get into bed and rest, but I can’t wait for the next two weeks and all the exciting things we’ll be doing together.

얼마 지나지 않아 린은 차 안에서 잠이 들었습니다. 여행으로 많이 지친 것이 분명했죠. 지금은 그저 침대에 들어가 푹 쉬고 싶을 뿐이지만, 앞으로 2주 동안 함께할 즐거운 시간들이 벌써부터 기대됩니다.
