23. Day 6: University Life

Many parents of teenagers often ask the same question: “So, what do you want to do in the future?” Today, that question naturally came up for my daughter’s friend as we took her on a campus tour of the University of Sheffield. It was the perfect setting to spark thoughts about possibilities, dreams, and the years that lie ahead.

많은 십대 자녀를 둔 부모들이 흔히 묻는 질문이 있습니다. “그래서, 나중에 무엇을 하고 싶니?” 오늘 우리는 셰필드 대학교 캠퍼스를 둘러보며 딸의 친구에게도 그 질문을 던지게 되었습니다. 앞으로의 가능성과 꿈, 그리고 앞으로 펼쳐질 시간들을 생각해보기에 딱 좋은 순간이었습니다.

The tour was led by two enthusiastic international undergraduates who brought the campus to life with their energy and insight. We explored several buildings, stepped into lecture theaters, and gave her the space to imagine what her future might look like—from sitting in a lecture to walking through the halls as a university student.

우리의 캠퍼스 투어는 열정 가득한 두 명의 국제학부생이 안내해 주었고, 그들의 활기와 이야기 덕분에 캠퍼스가 생생하게 느껴졌습니다. 여러 건물을 둘러보고 강의실에도 들어가 보며, 그녀가 미래의 자신을 그려볼 수 있는 시간을 가졌습니다. 강의를 듣는 모습부터 대학의 복도를 걷는 모습까지 상상할 수 있었죠.

After the tour, we headed to the Weston Park Museum, a place full of charm and curiosity. We wandered through the exhibits, choosing our favorite pieces and sharing thoughts about what drew us to them. It was a peaceful moment—learning together, talking freely, and connecting through art and history.

투어를 마친 뒤 우리는 매력이 가득한 웨스턴 파크 박물관으로 향했습니다. 전시품들을 구경하며 각자 마음에 드는 작품을 골라보고, 왜 그것을 좋아하게 되었는지 이야기도 나누었습니다. 함께 배우고 자유롭게 이야기하며 예술과 역사로 교감하는 편안한 시간이었습니다.

In the evening, we returned home and rounded off the day with a bit of relaxing art time. After a full day of exploring futures both near and far, it felt good to simply sit together, unwind, and create something beautiful. It was a gentle and inspiring end to a meaningful day.

저녁이 되자 우리는 집으로 돌아와 편안한 아트 타임으로 하루를 마무리했습니다. 가까운 미래와 먼 미래를 모두 탐색한 하루가 끝난 뒤, 함께 앉아 마음을 풀고 무언가 아름다운 것을 만들어보는 시간이 무척 좋았습니다. 의미 있는 하루의 부드럽고 영감 가득한 마무리였습니다.
